The role:
We are looking for a Senior Power Electronics engineer to lead the architecture, design, and development of power systems across the missile. In this role you will be responsible for both high level architecture and detailed design, delivering power from a few W to many kW across their missile systems; including high power radar seeker systems, BLDC motors, digital computers, radios, batteries, and other vehicle systems. The role will coordinate closely with the engineering leadership and architect designs for future vehicles and ground systems. A successful candidate will have significant experience delivering highly manufacturable power electronics hardware with extreme reliability for mission-critical applications in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- System-Level Development: Oversee missile power architecture, including power tree design, sequencing diagrams, and fault analyses. Serve as the power systems subject matter expert.
- Subsystem Focus: Collaborate with subsystem teams to design robust, manufacturable, and affordable DC-DC converters and power systems for demanding applications.
- Battery Development: Drive battery R&D, from prototype to production, ensuring safety, performance, and manufacturability.
- Leadership in Design: Lead architecture and design reviews, ensuring alignment with rapid prototyping cycles and high-frequency testing.
- Standards Implementation: Establish avionics standards for design, quality, and reliability, including EEE part qualification.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in power converter design and development.
- Expertise in DC-DC power converter design, simulation, and testing.
- Experience in high-power DC applications (2kW) and compact form factors.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience designing power systems for missiles or similar environments, with knowledge of MIL specs and harsh environment requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate cost considerations into design decisions.
- Full product lifecycle experience, including manufacturing optimization and test coverage analysis.
- Familiarity with aerospace-grade materials and electronics manufacturing processes.
